The butterfly tieback has a similar technique to a heart hairstyle that we did before. This one is easy enough to be a DIY. I added a bow for Rylan but you settle for the older girls and mothers.

Required items: Brush, rat tail comb, spray bottle, 3-4 hair brads, 2 alligator clips, spray wax or hair spray, and ribbon {if desired}.
the request: 3-5 minutes
Qualification: medium

Step-by-step guide:

  1. Start by picking up two sections of hair from the front. (on both sides)
  2. Pull it backwards and secure it with a small rubber band in the middle behind.
  3. With your topsy tail tool, place it in the middle of your drawstring, behind the elastic.
  4. Pick up the ponytail and divide into two sections.
  5. With the first section past the end of the topsy tail, go up to the back of the topsy tail loop and come through on the front. Now pull the topsy tail down. This will pull your hair down in half a loop.
  6. Repeat step 5 on the other side.
  7. Secure the two ends together with a small rubber band.
  8. Next, put your topsy tail through a loop. Pick up a new section of hair on one side only below where you will be picked up before.
  9. Pull the hair back, through the topsy tail and then pull the bottom edge of the topsy tail down to pull the hair through the loop.
  10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 on the opposite side.
  11. Secure your 2 new sections of hair together in the middle back with a small rubber band.
  12. Repeat steps 3-6 on your second ponytail.
  13. Now get both sections together with the first ponytail and secure with a small rubber band.
  14. Go back and gently pull on the outer edges of the upper loops to get in shape, your butterfly wings.
  15. Finish with hair spray {if desired}.
